Shincha (“new tea”) is a green tea from Japan that comes from the first harvest of Spring. The freshest tea available!  Shincha is created in the same way as sencha however these tea leaves are from only the first harvest.
This is the Hachiju Hachiya variety.  Hachiju Hachiya means "88 nights" and refers to the eighty-eighth day after the first day of spring on the traditional Japanese calendar. Tradition has it that the 88th day is the best time to pick tea, and to this day, Hachiju Hachiya Shincha is prized as high-quality green tea.
